Who we are

Keel is software that keeps the statutory registers, minutes and filing calendar of Indian private limited companies on behalf of the professional firm (a firm of Company Secretaries or Chartered Accountants) that uses it. That firm is the data fiduciary for the company books it keeps; Keel is its data processor. The firm's name and contact appear on every seat invitation and in the app under Settings.

What we hold, and why

Firm users (partners, managers, trainees): name, e-mail, role, membership number, password hash, authenticator key, sign-in times and IP address. Purpose: signing in, recording entries under a person's name, and the firm's own access log.

People in a company's book (members, directors, KMP, charge holders): name, DIN or PAN where the Companies Act, 2013 requires them in a register, address, and the events that concern them. Purpose: keeping the registers the Act requires (ss.88, 170, 85, 186, 189) and the minutes (s.118).

Seat holders (founders, investors, auditors): name, organisation, e-mail, consent record (notice version, time, IP), sign-in times, and what they approve or sign. Purpose: the access the firm granted them, as stated in their notice.

Consent

Firm users accept the terms of use when they join. Every seat holder is shown a notice stating the purpose, what they will see and what is logged, and consents before anything opens. Consent can be withdrawn at any time from the seat's own settings; withdrawing ends the seat.

Where and how long

Data is hosted in India. Entries in a company's book are part of a statutory record and are kept for as long as the Act requires the register or minute book to be kept (eight years after the relevant period, and permanently for the register of members). Sign-in logs are kept for eight years. Uploaded files (signed pages, spreadsheets) are kept with the entry they belong to.

What we never do

No tracking cookies, no analytics beacons, no advertising, no sale of data. The only third-party call the app makes is to load its typefaces from Google Fonts. Keel does not file anything with the Registrar and does not connect to the MCA portal.

Your rights

You may ask the firm that keeps the book for a copy of what is held about you, ask for a correction (a correction in a statutory register is recorded as a new entry citing the old one; nothing is erased), or complain to the Data Protection Board of India. Write to the firm at the address on your invitation; Keel's own contact is on the sign-in page.

Age

Keel is for professional use by adults. Nobody under eighteen should hold a seat or a user account.
